A digital person is a tool powered by Autonomous AI Agents or Agentic AI. A chatbot or bot, on the other hand, is a Generative AI tool. While a chatbot processes, understands, and generates human language, it relies on a predefined script to establish a conversational relationship with a human. A chatbot or bot cannot handle unexpected questions or demands that fall outside of that script.

A digital person, however, also processes, understands, and generates human language, but in addition, it has a pre-configured degree of autonomy that allows it to make decisions within a given context. A digital person can perform a task in the same way a human would: it understands the request, considers the best alternative based on the context, and carries out the task.
